December 5, 2015 - Annual Holly Run to Tangier Island
It's that time of the year for the annual Holly Run to Tangier Island. The event begins with a pancake breakfast at Bay Bridge Airport. Helen Woods of Chesapeake Sport Pilot organized and ran the event. The weather was unusually good and warm for December. Everyone is enjoying breakfast in the AutoGyro USA hangar.

A delicious breakfast of pancakes and bacon could be had.

Phil -- another member in my EAA Chapter -- taxiis by in his RV-12. I saw this particular Aircoupe a couple of months ago at the Golden Age Air Museum fly-in, then passed it on the way in this morning,. Those bright orange vertical stabs really stand out in the air.

Jolly and I did a little formation practice on the way to Tangier Island.

We did a little follow the leader down low.

It's always interesting landing at Tangier Island during the Holly Run as everyone seems to arrive at the same time. But it was better than last year. Here I am on final for runway two.

After lunch, a few of us made the circle walk around the island. Looking south from a small bridge.

Back on the ramp, I take a closer look at Phil's RV-12.

I flew back in loose formation with Mike B., who finished building his RV-7 shortly after I did.

I left Mike and went down to get a better look at the scenary.



I wonder if anyone lives in this little house in the middle of the swamp.

Sort of looks like the African savannah.



Following a river to Cambridge.


Flying over the Horn Point grass airfield. The University of Maryland, who owns it, decided to stop mowing the infield area, so the annual Horn Point antique airplane fly-in will have to move. The runways are sitll there but there will be no place to park the airplanes. The fly-in will be held at Massey Airport next spring.

Time to check out some waterfront property!

Waterfront -- and a horse farm. Not bad.

Wow, this one is really nice.

Deserving of a second look.

These tfour houses aren't as big as the previous one but the location is good.


I think that front lawn is big enough for a football field!

Looks like this place can handle a lot of boats.

Tennis AND basketball courts.

Very white.
